People make things happen! Committee members provide valuable time and expertise to help the BMW Association meet its goals. Four committees meet monthly to plan watershed activities, provide technical oversight, develop watershed management strategies, and review the budget: Information/Education Committee, Technical Committee, Watershed Plan Committee and Budget Committee.

Please read on to find out more about each of these groups. These committees benefit from the perspectives and skill sets unique to each stakeholder—we encourage you to drop in at our next meeting to see how you can become involved! (Check the Meetings or Calendar pages for specific details on upcoming meeting dates and times.)

 Information & Education Committee

The Information/Education (I/E) Committee members work together to promote awareness of the BMW Association activities and water quality issues in the Barr/Milton watershed. Some of their recent achievements include: creating and distributing The Barrimeter newsletter, planning river cleanups and Lake Appreciation events, organizing guest speakers and MUCH MORE!  You can download the action list below to learn more about what the Information and Education committee has accomplished and what they are planning.

 Watershed Plan Committee

The purpose of the Watershed Plan Committee is to incorporate available technical information and selected management practices into a comprehensive document that will guide the activities of the Barr Milton Watershed Association, as requested by, and at the direction of, the Association Board of Directors.  In addition, the Watershed Plan Committee will oversee the annual updates to the Watershed Plan.  To avoid major watershed management and planning conflicts with other members of the Association, it is encouraged that all other watershed management and planning matters handled by other members of the Association be brought to the attention and addressed via the Watershed Plan Committee.

 Technical Committee

The purpose of the Technical Committee is to provide guidance and recommendations on all technical aspects of the Barr Milton stakeholder process based on good science, quality data, and unbiased, professional opinions as requested by, and at the direction of, the Association Board of Directors.  To avoid major technical conflicts with other members of the Association, it is encouraged that all other technical matters handled by other members of the Association be brought to the attention and addressed via the Technical Committee.

BMW Water Quality Database Update

The BMW Association database was developed to provide a credible and defensible water quality database for use in watershed management and water quality/quantity modeling. The BMW Association, with technical support from Hydrosphere Resource Consultants, compiled the first BMW database in 2006. This first dataset included over 330,000 water quality and flow records from 360 stations within the Barr/Milton watershed boundary. In July 2007 the BMW database was updated to include additional stations and recent data collected through December 2006. To access the updated BMW database, contact Watershed Coordinator Darcie Garland-Renn at dgrenn@integral-corp.com or (303) 404-2944 ext. 22.
